[ Overview ]
Over twelve months we returned to the same stretch of coast in every season, filming the keepers who maintain lights the satellites made redundant. The film is observational: long takes, weather as a character, dialogue only when it earned its place.
[ Approach ]
Four seasons dictated the structure — one movement each, no narration. Sixteen-millimetre for exteriors in winter light, digital for interiors. The sound design is almost entirely location recordings: wind, gulls, diesel, kettle.
